After completing their Fish Market design, the client reappointed us to propose an extension of the Fish Market project, a marketplace housed in a 2 storey 1927 shop house which is situated right across the Fish Market.
The client is establishing a platform to help small local business owners to reach a wider market by helping them sell their products both in-retail and online. The retail portion will take place on the ground floor, sharing the space with the client’s own specialty coffee roaster. While his e-commerce headquarters will be on the mezzanine floor.
A pathway is introduced along the centre of the building to give connectivity from the fishmarket diagonally across and the street. The path leads to the entrance facing the main road.
Two skylights and voids are introduced along the central jacked roof, allowing the pathway to enjoy natural light and to enhance its sense of the volume. Tree pits along the path sets a mood and tie the two floors together.
